Following services we can provide individually
Interview Prep and Assistance
Most high school students are uncomfortable with interviews and often stumble through college interviews. A relaxed and confident interview is often the gateway to admissions. Our Interview Prep and Assistance program works with students to create a mind map of what they will want to highlight in an interview and how to incorporate this in to the interview no matter what questions are asked. Then we conduct a series of mock interviews so that students will be comfortable when the actual interview time comes.
College Selection Assistance
Need help selecting a major and/or a college that may be the best fit for you? We can help you research your options. Most selective colleges give higher preference to students that have identified a major vs students who identify themselves as undecided. And you also want to identify a major that is a good fit for the colleges you are considering. You can always change your major once you start college and colleges expect this. But college admissions representatives also expect students to have given some considerable thought to what they plan to study and why they are a good match for their college.
Essay Assistance Package (Admissions and/or Scholarships)
The admissions/scholarship essay is the opportunity to create a sense of intrigue that sets the applicant apart from the crowd. Our counselors work with students and their families to identify what they should highlight in their essays and provide guidance on how to structure the essay so that it gets noticed. For example, college admissions reps read up to 1,000 essays a year. You need to catch their attention in the first few sentences. We know the proven techniques to catch their attention. We continue to work with students as they revise drafts of their essay and we also provide assistance in customizing essays to a particular college or scholarship program. Through our years of experience, we know what individual colleges (and scholarship programs) are looking for and we help you customize your essay. If we are unfamiliar with a particular college of your choice, then we research that college to identify their typical student profile.
Interview Appointment with Preferred College
Getting an interview at a selective college can be difficult. At most selective schools, less than 20% of students an invited for an interview. At ACG, we use our vast network of connections with college representatives and admissions directors to get you an interview. We can often get you an interview prior to applying so that when you apply, information about you is already in their system making it more likely that you will be fully considered for admissions.
Letters of Recommendation Assistance
Students often do not put much time and consideration in to their letters of recommendation and just ask someone to write one for them. However, letters of recommendations are a significant factor in getting accepted in to selective colleges because someone else is identifying and verifying your strengths. You don’t want your recommenders to send over generic letters of recommendation. At ACG, we will help you to create request letters and a packet of information to give to your recommenders so they can highlight what will impress and intrigue the admissions representatives.
Scholarship Lead Generation and Application Assistance
Getting in to your first choice college is the first step. Finding the scholarships to pay for it can often be more difficult and time consuming. At ACG, we have a database of more than 2,000 scholarship programs. We work with students and their families to identify eligibility factors and then match them with scholarship programs. Our goal is to provide you with a minimum of 20 scholarship leads. Once you have identified the scholarships for which you want to submit an application, we can assist with the preparation of your scholarship essay as well as prep you for any interview
